Prep DB for iPhone

The native iOS app puts the parts of Prep DB you reach for between games in your pocket: spaced-repetition repertoire drills, the full opening explorer, and opponent prep reports. Sign in with your Prep DB account and your drill queue and repertoires stay in sync with the web, so a line you review on the train counts the same as one you review here.

What's in the app

• Train: pick openings and play their lines through move by move. Wrong answers are explained: which variation your move actually leads to, how often masters play it, and what the main line is.
• Explorer: every position, move statistics, and top games from the master database.
• Prep: search any player and browse their repertoire tree by colour.
• Repertoires: read your lines anywhere; editing stays on the web.

Get it

The app is in development and coming to the App Store soon (iOS 17 or later). Until then, Prep DB works great installed from Safari: open prepdb.io, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. You get the full site as an app, including offline access to recently viewed pages and your trainer deck.
